Betsy Lazar, whose car experience spans both the agency and marketer worlds, replaces Andrew Prakken as chief media officer at the Dearborn, Mich.-based agency.
Prakken is leaving the shop after about four years in that role. He has worked at Team Detroit since its inception in 2006.
Most recently, Lazar was vp of global media at Kellogg, where she spent three years. Before that, she spent 20 years at General Motors, rising to the role of executive director, advertising and media operations.
Early in her career, Lazar was a media planner at JWT, working on Ford brands such as Taurus. So, in joining WPP Group’s lead agency for Ford—the holding company’s largest global account—Lazar has come full circle.
At Team Detroit, Lazar also reconnects with Mark LaNeve. LaNeve, the agency’s chief operating officer, used to work with her at GM. She starts Jan. 22.
