What’s the first information you consume in the morning?
The first information would be my horoscope. I don’t buy the Post, but someone down the hall always has it or it’s in the coffee shop, so I look at that.

What occupies your mind in the car, on the subway, train, or bus?
If I’m in a cab, which is rare, I’ll watch news if they have it on the TV screen. I don’t sit at a desk for most of the day, so I don’t really use a computer or look at any social media. I’m probably the most archaic entrepreneur.

So no Twitter or Instagram?
Nope. Our company uses them, though. I tell them about things I see or places I’ve been for them to tweet about, or I send pictures of things I like. Pinterest has been helpful to my business. Making inspiration boards is really key to developing products. When I was getting married, I literally cut out tear sheets and put my own boards together. Had I known about Pinterest, I would have been able to do it so much more easily. But I’m the old-school type that likes tangibility and touching things.

What are your favorite magazines?
The ones I always read are Vogue, InStyle, People and Us Weekly. In terms of pulling tear sheets, it could be anything from Travel + Leisure and Vanity Fair to European magazines. I love all the gift guides that the magazines put out, whether it’s InStyle doing Mother’s Day gifts or color guides, or the O magazine Christmas guide. I find home design magazines are very inspiring, too.

Are you a TV junkie?
Not at all. Before I got married, I never really watched TV. Now, my husband and I watch The Bachelor together. I love The Soup—that’s where I get a lot of my pop culture—and Chelsea Lately. I’ve gotten hooked on House of Cards.

Give us the skinny on your favorite app.
I use a Flywheel app to book my classes. It helps me connect right into the site. Dylan’s Candy Bar doesn’t have an app yet, but we’ll be working on something.

What’s your biggest digital indulgence?
I love the BlackBerry. I’m on it all the time. I literally wrote my whole book, Unwrap Your Sweet Life, on the BlackBerry while I was working out on the StairMill. So many people tease me about having a BlackBerry, but I meet a lot of people who still use one. Obama has a BlackBerry!

With such a bloated media universe, how do you cut out the fat?
I just stay focused on what I need to get done. I think that some people who sit at a desk all day get bored, and that’s when they start to get sucked in by the computer. I’d rather get out of the office and shop the world through my own eyes, not other people’s.
