Another insider has jumped up to assume a leadership role at The Martin Agency.
Two months after the shop promoted Joe Alexander to chief creative officer, the shop has named Matt Williams to succeed John Adams as CEO, effective in February. Alexander filled a vacancy left by the June exit of John Norman.
Like Alexander, Williams is a veteran of the Interpublic Group agency, which is based in Richmond, Va. Each joined in 1991.
Williams, 45, most recently was general manager. Before that, he worked in both account management and strategic planning. He became gm in July 2011.
In a statement, Williams said he was "excited and humbled" to become CEO, adding, "I look forward to building on the legacy of creativity and integrity [that] John Adams, (president) Mike Hughes and the people of The Martin Agency have created."
Adams remains with the shop as chairman and will help manage key marketer relationships and contribute to new business pitches, as needed.
The agency's top accounts include Walmart, Geico, Pizza Hut and Hanes.
