Philadelphia ad agency Red Tettemer has been including one very unusual item in its welcome package to new hires lately—it's carving each new employee's likeness on the head of a crayon. As you can see below, the results are pretty impressive. Of course, it helps to have a master crayon carver on staff in the form of associate creative director Steve Thompson. "When you have a crayon-carver in your midst, you use every opportunity to harness that creativity," says chief creative officer Steve Red. Thompson has carved 16 "CrayonHeads" so far, as the agency has been staffing up following account wins including Planet Fitness and Reyka Vodka. The artwork is a bit reminiscent of the carved crayons in the 2009 U.S. Cellular commercial, though hopefully Red Tettemer's staffers won't get melted anytime soon.
