The New York office of JWT has found a new director of business development in California.

Emilie Vasu, who most recently was an account director at Venables Bell & Partners in San Francisco, joined JWT today. She assumes responsibilities previously held by Megan Kent, albeit under a different title.

Kent was a global business director who helped lead new business efforts for North America. Before that, she steered the agency's Microsoft business. Kent, who joined JWT in 2010, left the shop last week, according to an agency representative.

At Venables Bell, Vasu, 35, helped manage brands such as Intel, Odwalla, eBay and PG&E. She also contributed to new business pitches and agency marketing efforts.

Before Venables Bell, Vasu worked on brands such as Hewlett-Packard and Cheetos at Goodby Silverstein & Partners and BNP Paribas at Cutwater. Her first job was at OgilvyOne in New York. So, the JWT role marks a return to the market where her advertising career began.

In a statement, JWT North American CEO David Eastman described Vasu as a "gifted collaborator" who will be a "tremendous asset for all across the agency."
