Hope you've all recovered from Missoni-mania, because it's time for another Target designer collaboration!
On Feb. 5, Tar-jay will introduce a capsule collection by Jason Wu. For the unfamiliar, Wu is a favorite of Michelle Obama, who wore his fluffy white gown to the inaugural balls in 2009. (He's also a big fan of throwing his name on various non-wearable items, from Brizio faucets to GE digital cameras to CND nail polish.)
To promote the line, Wieden + Kennedy, New York, produced this sweet little spot starring Wu's "muse" for the collection, a black cat named Milu. When Wu leaves his astonishingly tidy studio, a sketch of Milu leaps from the paper and starts making mischief around the room, gathering a yellow top, pleating a red blouse, decorating a purse with tiny white flowers, and eventually ending up an image on a white tee. Wu returns to his atelier, vaguely mystified—but what else are imaginary feline muses for?
Meanwhile, the collection itself looks like exactly what you'd want to wear this spring while listening to retro French pop tunes out on the lawn—navy wasp-waisted dresses, ditsy florals, sherbet stripes—but hopefully it won't cause another massive Target website crash. (Still waiting for those Missoni shorts, guys!)
